
More sports medicine professionals are becoming actively involved in the care of martial arts athletes. Although many different forms of martial arts are practiced worldwide, certain styles have shown a potential for increased participation in competitive-type events. Further research is needed to understand the prevalence and mechanism of injuries sustained in martial arts full-contact competitive events.
COMMITTEE OBJECTIVE
To assure the highest quality of sports medicine knowledge and technical skills for the entire sports medicine team (professionals, coaches, sports therapists, and administrators) through providing training, continuing education, and other resources.
COMMITTEE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support for National Teams
a. Before Competitions
I. Assure the health and fitness of athletes selected for the competition.
II. Provide qualified medical professionals (physicians, and sports therapists)
III. Provide adequate supplies and equipment.
IV. Educate team personnel (athletes and coaches) concerning general health and hygiene measures (to avoid Infectious Diseases).
b. During the Competition
I. Assure adequate treatment space—village and stadium.
II. Establish treatment schedules and staffing—village and stadium.
III. Assure proper food and water—village and stadium.
IV. Keep records of all illnesses and sports injuries, and treatments.
C. During Year-Round Training
Assure a functioning health care system at Team training venues.
I. Develop a resource system for the referral of athletes to qualified community practitioners.
II. Provide Sports Sciences support services to qualified athletes:
- Periodic physiological monitoring of the training process
- Biomechanical analysis of technical skills
- Psychological skills training
- Nutritional analysis and education
2. Support Competition Programmes
Provide a medical care system for national championships, major competitions, and international meetings.
3. Continuous Sports Medicine Educational Programs
I. Develop health screening, health care, and education programs at local and regional levels for all Pro Full Combat athletes.
II. Provide health and safety education for coaches.
III. Integrate health and safety modules into the coaching education curriculum at all levels.

Biography:
A passionate practitioner with extensive experience in Sports Medicine and Exercise Medicine in and out of hospital settings. Having additional skills in exercise prescription and wellness medicine. Doctor Ayman graduated from the College of Medicine / Baghdad University in 2001. He joined the Iraqi National Center of Sports Medicine in 2005 at the age of 29 years old to become the youngest ever Sports Medicine Practitioner to join this prestigious center. Doctor Ayman finished his training under the supervision of the finest Sports Medicine Specialist in Iraq then he migrated to Malaysia to continue his professional career. In 2019, Doctor Ayman Al-Bedri was awarded a Post Graduate Diploma in Sports Medicine by the International Olympic Committee – Lausanne, Switzerland. Currently, he is the Manager of Exercise is Medicine® Malaysia National Center. An initiative managed directly by the American College of Sports Medicine.
